New dangerous malware JS:Packed-AB [Trj] detected by avast!

Jan 18th -��On Friday January 16th,��a large��number��of websites worldwide became the focus of a targeted attack. A malicious script��was added to the attacked pages, which redirects visitors to malicious servers operated by the attackers��and results in the the users' computers becoming infected.��This malicious script is��detected by avast! as JS:Packed-AB [Trj].��We have recorded almost 5000 attacks during the last 48 hours detected on more than 2000 websites worldwide.

At the moment, avast! is the only antivirus software fully detecting this new malware.

The independent testing body AV-Test has released��the results of a major��comparative test of antivirus��products,��covering detection rates��for various types of malware.��In the tests, avast! antivirus detected over 99% of all malware types��(and more than 98% of adware and spyware) and has therefore ��received a "++" rating for��its detection rates in on-demand scanning. Trojan detected in BS.Player installation file

As of today, 10th Dec 2008, our Virus Lab detected a spying trojan (Win32:Trojan-gen) in the BS.Player installation file, placed on their European download server. This detection is already included in the current VPS of avast! antivirus. After the installation of BS.Player, the trojan is located in hidden file "Windows\System32\installdata358.tmp.exe".
